“Carmen
Ghia and the Hotrods?”, you might ask? Who are they and where do
they come from??! Well in case you don't know...
CGH
are a band from Sheffield who have been together a little over six
years and have gone from success to success and are now considered to be
one of the top rockin’ bands on the live scene.
When they
arrive on stage you know you're in for a good time. A solid line up of
drums, guitar, upright bass, sax piano and harmonica and a little fire
cracker of a front woman who could be straight out of the ‘50’s and the
foxiest dame to ever work a microphone! This band consist of some of
Sheffield’s most respected musicians and the whole outfit is
Killer-Diller to be sure! From the first note to the last you will be
blown away by the authentic sound of this 1950's band. This isn't merely
'retro' this is the real deal.
They've been seen playing at
some of the biggest Rockin' festivals in Britain, The Shakedown, Hembsy,
and the The Rhythm Riot (to name but a few). This year sees them
headlining at Americana and swinging at the Derry Jazz and Big Band
Festival for the fifth time this year!!
At home they sell out at
local gigs, where local legends such as Richard Hawley and Frank White
have been known to get up and join them on stage.
"There's Blues,
R&B, Rockabilly, and Rock n Roll, all played and delivered with
exquisite precision and enthusiasm by the Hotrods"... Andrew Smith UK
Rock n Roll magazine
"We were knocked out instantly when on came
the oh so seductive Carmen... she didn't need to sing but singing is
what she does and how! The ensemble she fronts swings, jumps, rocks, and
generally kicks arse".... Mike Stott UK Rock n Roll magazine
